Paint Fun!

I love paint of all sorts and use it pretty often to give my layouts a little extra boost.  So this week for our Last Scrapper Standing competition at Memorable Seasons I have offered up the challenge to use just that - paint!  We would love to see what you can do with paint; you have until Wednesday the 27th to upload a layout if you'd like a shot at our random weekly drawing!

I created this layout for this challenge using my fun Amy Tangerine Sketchbook DT kit, paints and some new stamps I found at Michaels.

I hope you will join us for the challenge, even if you are just stopping by for the first time, you can still join in and possibly even be our random winner for the week!  Here is a link to the challenge and we can't wait to see what you are going to create!

Deviate from your Norm!

Have you ever gotten so comfortable with your style that you forget to look outside of the box you've put yourself in?  I love to explore and try things, for me I want to see if I am up to the challenge.  This month at Memorable Seasons I was sent my DT kit with Amy Tangerine Sketchbook and that was a total deviation from my normal!  Yikes.  I wanted to see what I could do with the papers because I loved them, but they weren't me.

So I sat down with my box and created 4 layouts and a card and I have another piece that is just waiting for pictures!  I found that when I embraced something out of my normal I fell in love with what I created because it was like a breath of fresh air.

I deviated from my norm in that my picture ended up not beside the flower like my normal, but diagonal from it, I doodled on my page to fit the style of the papers, I layered paints, mists and paper to form my background for my photo.  Some of these are things I do, but the combination was different for me.  I also painted one of the flowers I fussy cut from my paper.  I loved how this layout turned out because it was a fresh approach to my style - similar, but new!

So how about you?  Are you ready to deviate from your normal and find what creation might be hiding?  Come join us at Memorable Seasons and you could be our June winner!

If you have a moment, voting is still going on at CK.  All you have to do is click on the widget on the upper right side of my blog and it will take you right to my layout to vote.  I appreciate all of your help!

Doodling...

is the newest challenge at Memorable Seasons - are you a doodler?  I do a little, but when I was working with the Amy Tan Sketchbook paper it just kept popping out, I guess an extension of her papers!  LOL  So here is my doodled inspired layout...

I thought it was perfect for my son and his facial expression - got to love that boy!  Hope you will join us and share your doodling love.

If you have a chance, click on the picture on my blog on the right hand side and you can vote daily for my layout to appear in CK magazine.

Also, I am up at Aussie Scrap Source with a layout I created using Cosmo Cricket!

Pretty Soon...

this will be a reality in our lives, but I am so thankful it isn't yet!

I loved the Amy Tan Sketchbook papers that I was sent from Memorable Seasons they fit so perfectly with these pictures; I added in some of my Hambly stash which I now need to hoard even more and My Little Shoebox stickers which completed this layout.  I hope you will stop by at Memorable Seasons, we have some great challenges going on right now and we are having prize drawings every week if you participate.  Hope to see you there!

So excited!!!

My layout was chosen as one of the reader picks for Creating Keepsakes, but now I need your help!  Would you please follow this link http://www.creatingkeepsakesblog.com/blog/2012/06/readers-pick-poll-voting/ and vote for me?  Mine is the first one, called Brrr!  Here is a picture of it also...

Thanks for your help!  Wendy

Lily Bee June sketch challenge

I was so pleased to have won the May sketch challenge at Lily Bee and on Monday I received my prize package; instantly inspiration hit!  You have got to love that!  The colors of the Victoria Park collection which I was sent jumped out at me - the black, pink and the green and so I decided to create this layout with the help of Lily Bee's June sketch.

Here's the sketch we were given to work with - I loved the block design and stuck with that while rotating the sketch to better fit my picture that I chose.

And here is my take on it:

I really wanted to add some journaling about this, so I tried another version...

I'm not sure if I like the journaling on the side, but either way I love how this turned out!  Thanks Lily Bee for some wonderful paper products I really enjoyed them!

I was also soup-spotted today at Jillibean Soup, here's a link!  :)

It's official!

I am part of Wall Sugar's new Design Team and I am thrilled! I thought I would share my projects that I created for the call; my projects were created using the following items:

Bare Block - Wired
Bare Block - Wired
I used some Bella Blvd products to cover my block and cloud.  My cloud is made out of a product called Paper Clay which is a light weight clay that I molded around aluminum foil.  I covered my cloud with a fine layer of Stickles to give it a shine.  The wings that I attached to my little one are from Prima.

Set - Coaster
Coaster Set
I painted the coaster set with gesso in the interior part.  On the edges I painted a cream color and then I used the fabulous Martha Stewart weather medium - wow, awesome stuff!.  I finished the edges with a coat of white paint.  I adhered tissue paper to the interior of the frame that I had sprayed with my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  Using my Webster's Pages stash, Crafty Secrets stamp set, Close to my Heart stamp set and ink pads, cheesecloth sprayed with Tattered Angels and various shells I completed the frame set.

As you can see I love to alter different items with my scrapbooking stash, so I am looking forward to completely decorating my house in the months to come!  Thank you Wall Sugar for this chance.

I've been busy...

with so many big events this past weekend, but I worked on this layout as my de-stresser whenever I could grab a minute.

I used my Lily Bee stash to create this - I love the different journaling cards that Lily Bee makes; I used them as flags, to journal on, as backgrounds, and I especially love the phrases that are printed on them.  I also used a tutorial from the Lily Bee blog to create the chevron pattern border.

Are you a groupie?

I'm not and never have been.  I can still remember the years of trying so hard to fit in during middle and high school; I definitely don't want to go back to those days!  But I have been involved in groups over the years - my school years were taken up with orchestras, in college I was an engineer and so we had a study group, but they didn't really stick b/c they were activity based groups.

My hubby and I had a great group of couples we used to hang out with about once a month (plus church) and that was probably one of the hardest things about our move.  When we moved I still considered these people to be my groupies and they are, but each of us had to move on.  For a long time, I missed that special relationship and longed to be able to rewind to my "happy times".

Lately, the Lord has really been stretching me to open up and really get to know people and allow myself to love and be loved in return.  I'm not a very social person, I tend to be shy if you were to see me in person, but I am realizing that I can't be an island and that each of us need relationships.  So, back in February when the Lord laid on my heart to invite a Father and son over we did that and now almost 4 months later we have a large group that gets together every Sunday evening, and I love that!  We have celebrated birthdays, kids have played together, LOTS of meals have been eaten and hearts have been shared.  I could worry about getting my feelings hurt because that happens in a lot of situations or I could just enjoy what the Lord has put in my life for today!

Materials Used:  Simple Stories Summer Fresh

Even though I might not know each of you that read my blog - thanks for being part of my blog "groupies" I REALLY appreciate each one of you and your comments mean the world to me!

Time to Celebrate!

I'm so excited, my little Beano just won the Lily Bee sketch, check it out!

I really have had a hard week and so this was a nice little treat.  You know sometimes life just takes a left turn and you didn't even know it was coming.  So, what do you do?  I figure you have 2 choices - run and HIDE!  or Celebrate a new door opening to you and anticipate all the Lord has for you.

So, after I did a little hiding I decided to come and visit you all here and post a project that due to this left turn isn't done the way I had planned.  I could sit around and wait until I get the project done the way I had hoped or I can share this little peek and tell you that I will post the finished project when I get it done, and not if, but when!

So even though I have been hiding I have had a wonderful time scrapping in the last week!  I can't post everything yet as my projects are for the whole month at Memorable Seasons, but I can show you a little peak!

I received a kit of Amy Tangerine Sketchbook to play with!  I wasn't sure if I could work with it, but instead I totally LOVE the projects I created!  Make sure you stop back by next week for some more projects that I created.
