Jillibean Soup's Designer Challenge

I was totally hit with inspiration when I read Jillibean Soup's Designer Challenge to use buttons.  I had just received some of the very colorful epoxy buttons in one of my kits and they were just the right color for my boys rooms (the bedrooms are painted bright blue and the other is red, and their bathroom is YELLOW)  and it hit me...

Our kids each have chores to do, some daily ones and some that are just once a week.  They do a pretty good job helping with the big chores, but they can't seem to remember those daily things.  So I decided to make a chore board for their room.  I am still trying to find some pictures of the different chores they need to do each morning to print out, but that is proving to be a little difficult.  :(

So here is my project using an old bulletin board that was half cork and half dry erase/magnetic and some Jillibean Soup Game Day papers and buttons, twine, and mini clothespins...

and some close-ups
the buttons are hot glued to thumbtacks to hold the twine in place

I also used some of the Jillibean Soup wooden buttons on their sketch challenge and another layout I created with my Jillibean Soup stash here.  Thanks for stopping by!

My hubby turned the big 40

and he has been taking it out on me!  Yikes!  I never thought he would have trouble with turning 40, but it has been a HEAVY week for us.  He is okay again (or I think), but now he has decided he is ready to have a party this weekend!  I kept offering to do something and he wasn't interested, now I am scrambling to get the cooking and cleaning done for who knows who might show up.  Goodness, I hope this 40 business slows down or it will be a long year.

I had such great hopes for my scrapping weekend, projects all lined up on the floor b/c I've had some great brain storms, but they will have to wait I guess until Monday.  I do have 2 Jillibean Soup layouts to share with you.  One is based on the April sketch challenge and the other was something I had to scrap when I saw the saying on it!  LOL.  I used a bunch of my Jillibean Soup buttons on these as Jillibean challenged their readers with buttons this month.  I actually have a project all laid out on my floor that is really cool, but it needs another hour before I can share that one.

Here is the sketch:

It seems...

like I am a Thursday blogger!  Sometimes a weekend one too, but not guaranteed.  LOL  I usually don't allow myself any down time until the bulk of the chores are done around the house, so I guess you know what I have been doing Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I have a few things to share so I will give you some each day, that way I will be a good blogger!  :)

First up, how about my first ever anything in a magazine!!!  Yep, I got the call for this back at Thanksgiving and just now it is in the magazine, crazy isn't it?  Then I had this strange problem, I couldn't find the magazine anywhere.  I called everywhere and finally found it in and so I grabbed a copy of it to share with you, Cards April 2012

I almost got sick when I was paging through the magazine at the store trying to find the page and I couldn't find it!  Now, I keep it out on my scrap desk where the card use to sit.

Next, I joined in at Artful Delights with their sketch challenge.  The challenge is open until the 23rd so you still have time if you'd like to join in.  Here is the sketch we were given,

I used my DT kit from Memorable Seasons to create this...

Materials Used:  American Crafts, Maya Rd, The Twinery, K&Co

Thanks for stopping by, hopefully I'll be back before Thursday to share another 2 layouts I created!

How about some Throwdown challenges?

Yep, you heard that right, we are doing Throwdown challenges at Memorable Seasons and this is my week.  Each Tuesday we offer an appetizer challenge and Thursday we offer a main course and you have until the following Wednesday to enter for the weekly prize drawing.

I received the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan line with my DT kit so instead of an appetizer and because I love sweets I offered up a dessert challenge!  My challenge was to create a trifle using paper - more specifically:
To create your trifle card you need the following ingredients:
whipped topping - vellum, tissue paper, lace, anything that gives an airy feeling
layers - you must build a scene using layers like you would your cake
fruit - hand cut some items from your patterned paper to enhance your design

My main course challenge I offered up was PIZZA!

The ingredients for your pizza are:
dough - you need to start with cardstock
sauce - you must use ink/paint/spray to give a saucey look - you choose the flavor
cheese - confetti! Yep, here is the work part. I want you to give the sprinkled cheese look with confetti - I thought of circles, but you may use any shape, but sprinkle!
I chose to add in some crust with my paper strips and sewing, but that is up to you. Also, feel free to add any extras that you would like on your pizza, but please share what extra food item inspired your scrap item.

Materials Used:  American Crafts, Tattered Angels

Isn't it amazing where you can get your inspiration from?  I have never tried food before, but it was really fun!  Hope you stop by and join us we've had some neat "meals" so far.  LOL

Scrapping Everyday Miracles challenge

Can you believe it is April?  Where is 2012 going?  It is so warm and sunny here and has been for almost a month now - I'm looking forward to the month and all that might happen, how about you?

So this month we were asked to scrap about the funny things people say for the challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles

Do you have people in your life that have made you laugh over things they've said, like maybe an uncle with a great sense of humor? Have your kids said things that made you laugh, and even long after it's said, you still giggle about it? If you answered yes to either of those questions then you're going to like this challenge!

I think God has given us a sense of humor because He knew there would be days that we'd need a good laugh and He also placed people in our lives to provide that chuckle! This month's challenge is asking you to create a project that focuses on the people in your life that brighten your day with their silly side. More specifically, the funny things they say. It can be something they've said once or something they say on a regular basis. The beauty of this challenge is that you don't have to have a particular photo of the person doing something funny, all you need is a photo of the person who's made the funny comment. The journaling will tell the story!

So let's have some fun showing how God has blessed us with the humorous things the people in our lives have said and in so doing, provides the laughter we need to brighten our days!

Scrap twist: Use baker's twine on your project.

Sponsor:  A gift certificate to Scrapbook Circle!

We also include a custom Scrapbook Circle Printable with each of our kits. You do not need to commit to a subscription to receive our kits. You can buy one kit at a time. If you would like a discount on kits, just commit to purchase 2 kits.

So here is the layout I created about our son - I wanted to document this stage as he is growing up so quickly and already moving on to new things.

Materials Used:  My Minds Eye, Pebbles, Maya Rd, Sizzix
The journaling reads:  So we have a 2 almost 3 year old in the house, by the name of Vinny Cenzo as his Mommy likes to call him.  Well this little man has spent the last few months naming, or maybe I should say renaming our family members to his liking.  Besides the paci hanging out of his mouth, almost like a cigar, making him appear like a mini mobster and muffling his chatter, our little boy has taken our nicknames and totally revamped them until they will never be the same!
